What’s your ‘swear to never return’ place in Houston? (stole this from r/Austin who stole it from r/Ottawa)

Some people just really don't gaf. They don't want to be bothered.

I remember my sibling and I being 6 and 10 years old in San Francisco right after Reagan kicked out everybody in mental institutions. Our parents would each give us a $100 bill to go school shopping by ourselves. We were expected to find our own change, get on a bus, do our own shopping for everything for the entire school year, school clothes and school supplies, and have enough money to get back home. Not get robbed, mugged, or kidnapped.

If anything bad happened, it was our fault, and we would be punished.

We learned pretty quickly if we thought we were in trouble to ask for help from one of the "really tall ladies in movie makeup". God, all the times we got lost and had no idea where we were, or how to get home. We were damn lucky to make it to adulthood. I didn't realize until I had kids of my own how insane that was.
