Nvidia being Nvidia on GTX 1060...

Intel pulled some underhand tactics (and got caught), but all it amounted too was a minor contributing factor. They didn't get crippled by Intel like you claim.

It isn't the reason AMD hemorrhage market share. AMD were flourishing and gaining quarterly on Intel despite all that.

Here's the relevent graph: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/market_share.html

See sudden dive after solid gains in Q2 and Q3 2006? Guess what happened then. The Core 2 Duo launched.

The reason AMD got killed in the CPU game is because Intel dumped billions into R&D, both in their chip design and in their manufacturing technologies. Then they dumped billions in making those manufacturing technology improvements reality in state of the art chip fabs.

Intel spent more in R&D and Chip fabs than AMD's entire net worth. AMD simply didn't have the money to compete. They still don't and probably never will.

Even now what market share AMD has is almost because Intel allows it (not generosity but cunningly they don't want to be broken up as a monopoly).
AMD make such slim margins on all their CPUs, and Intel make such ungodly margins (well as B2B hardware margins go) - that Intel literally could probably slash 20 to 30% off their prices and still make slightly more per chip than AMD do.
