Ottomans did help Jews settle at various parts of their empire, like in and around Constantinople, Thessaloniki (which is where my father's family is from, yes they were converted/assimilated Sephardim) but never gave away the land as in a private ownership.

It's called 'alliance', and in the Palestinians' case, it was neighborhood and they had common religion as well. You have to see things from their side, they're not cattle. After the British took over they were pushed away from their lands to make space for the incoming Jewish settlers, which by the way had exceeded the number deemed acceptable by the British. Them not accepting to sign the 1947 plan is quite natural, if the same thing happened to us we wouldn't have accepted and fought too.
