Yes, they think that you can't just "trust" anybody, so it's better to have people you know or are at least within your network to do the work. I encountered problems with this because my parents forced me to get all my dental work done with a dentist in my mom's family.

Lo and behold when I moved to another state and went to see a specialist for an awful dental problem, that dentist (still Asian but this was a coincidence, and very recognized in that field) said that this was all basically the fault of my previous dentist whose work was shoddy. Frankly I spent 5x more trying to rectify this issue than what my parents probably saved in going to the cheap family dentist.

He did also add that a lot of kids of APs do go to him with similar issues, and it's usually because our APs trust the cheapest family member or acquaintance who can do the work.
