Openly Gay, Openly Christian Buttigieg Challenges the Religious Right

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 96%. (I'm a bot)

Openly Gay Christian Buttigieg Challenges Religious Right As someone whose identity includes serious Christianity and serious progressive political stances, I've always been wary of trying to counter the Christian right with some sort of Christian left, in a Bible-quotation-loaded competition to claim God for a party or ideology.

Too, do such solid elements of the American and global religious landscape as the United Church of Christ, the Presbyterian Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the Unitarian-Universalist Association, and many congregations and whole regions of the United Methodists and my own Christian Church that embrace gay people as equals in every way.

A churchgoing, married vet who happens to be gay will likely confound a religious right that embraces homophobia and President Trump.
