Yes, I do not mean that is what you should do or feel. Absolutely not. What you personally experience, feel and do is totally understandable, I would definitely feel the same way in your situation. But right now I am not so my view is far away from personal feelings and more in a big picture perspective.

When you are in your feelings (fear) mainly it is important to know that you have a choice. Is there anything you can do about the situation? Could you ask your friend to talk about it to make things a little more clear or reassuring for you? Is there anything you can do to make yourself feel a little bit better (general selfcare)? Do something that makes you calm and feel okay. Eat something, listen to music, read something etc. Are you able to change things that are out of your control? Probably not. But you can make sure you don't forget yourself and get lost in an endless loop of anxiety and overthinking because you worry about things that isn't in your control. Take a moment to meditate on it. It helps.
