Except he doesn't. While American conservatism is distinct from European conservatism, they aren't nearly as divorced as suggested and its really not hard at all to find American conservative intellectuals referencing, championing, and defending the ideas of European ones all throughout American history. Hell even in recent history its common knowledge that the American conservative movements finds common ground with European conservative movements to much higher degree than European centrist or left wing groups.

And to say American conservatives were not traditionally interested in maintaining social order or political class is to ignore so much US history I dont even want to bother responding to it.
