People who are related to celebrities, how has their fame affected family gatherings and events?

As a native of Central FL from looong before Walt and Roy showed up (we have family who literally left what's now the Orlando area to go fight Sherman in the Civil War), I've resented the everloving shit out of Disney literally my whole life. Like, fuck your princess shit, even when I was young enough to want to be a princess. No I don't want to go to Cinderella's castle, I want to go to Space Camp. That hatred was turned up to 11 when, on a field trip to a not-Magic Kingdom park when I was a freshman in high school, I was assaulted by a cast member. Truly. My hate burned whitefuckinghot. There's not a Buzzfeed quiz for this but if there were, my Disney character personality would be the giant black dragon that Maleficent becomes, spewing fury and rage in all directions. Disney? NO NOT A FAN.

And then? Guess what. My husband (huge Walt/Roy fan! Huge Disney history guy! Total Imagineer material!) took me to the family museum in San Francisco, and some crazy shit happened: I FINALLY GOT IT. I understood the magic. I'll admit, I cried a little. I bought so much stuff in the gift shop, too.

It's this weird appreciation I have now, honestly, because it's not at all based in any sort of childhood nostalgia. I'm still not a fan of Main Street at the Magic Kingdom, though I tolerate it. I'd go to Marceline, MO to see what it's based on in a heartbeat, though.

Anyway. Sorry. All I really meant to say was that the family museum was really awesome and I loved it.
