When I was 22 I helped start a band with a bunch of dudes I’ve been very close friends (even roommates) with since I was like 16/17 years old.

We signed a record deal, recorded a CD and toured North America/Europe for a couple years. Lived with those dudes in vans and buses, saw a lot of amazing things and had some incredible experiences.

Then I found out that between tours, one of my band mates/“good friends” had been hooking up with my ex gf of 3 years, and even told the other dudes about it. Asked them to keep it a secret til we recorded our next CD so it wouldn’t “mess up the writing process”.

I confronted them about it & asked to meet up with them all to talk things over and see if we could reach some form of resolution. Everyone except for the asshole in question agreed to meet up & talk. He wouldn’t come. So I told him to stop being such a coward, cuz eventually we’d just discuss it at practice if he was going to be too much of a pussy to meet up outside of that. In return, he said I’m not allowed to play any shows, & the other dudes agreed. So I quit, and lost my literal lifelong dream.

This was last year & I still haven’t recovered. I’m still angry and sad and bitter. It eats at me every day. Meanwhile, they told everyone we know (and even went on record in an Alternative Press interview) claiming I quit cuz I didn’t like the direction we were taking the new music.

Fuck each one of those dudes.

Be careful who you trust & be picky about who you work with.
