Is philosophy useless and obsolete

In my opinion, a philosophy is something that people live by. For example, I have a philosophy, not in the sense that it's anything unscientific or religious, it's only a philosophy on how life is best lived or simply how I want to live mine. It's not anything very well defined or structured, it's just some general principles that I personally live by. When I advice someone, if the matter is suitable for it, I always give the advice in accordance with that philosphy or at least that's what I think, I might be inconsistent with that one lol. So while science is definitely above something like religion for me personally, I think philosophy is almost unrelated, for me philosphy is just thinking about life and having some general principles to live by which can be altered as and when change is needed, just like a scientific law.
