Piggybacking off the other LGBT thread; do you feel stepping away from the LGB would help, or hurt the transgender community?

I'm not really sure I'm all that qualified to comment.

However, there is one reason why I think a split could be bad. Funding. There are plenty of rich gay people out there and plenty more who are willing to fund LGB stuff. How many people are willing to fund trans stuff? How many celebrities will speak out in support of trans? Not just, oh yeah, that's cool, but actually support things like the bathroom stuff?

Yes, the split needs to happen. Obviously the LGB community and the trans aren't getting along so well, as the issue is that many LGB are just like everyone else who is cis and have issues with trans (not saying all cis people have issues; just clarifying).

The reality is, you're probably screwed if you do and screwed if you don't. Split from LGB, lose money and the support of powerful, wealthy people. Don't split and continue to be marginalized.

My personal opinion. A nice peaceful protest. Get people to do something that makes the news. A bathroom sit in. Get cis people to join in. Look at the civil right's movement and take a page from it. It's not like all those people came out unscathed, but they certainly affected change, and they did so peacefully (even if they had to bear the hatred of others). If you really want to break off from LGB, then we've got to actually do something (peaceful) to show the world what's happening and why what they're doing is wrong. The reality is, why some people will hate, many people are simply ignorant. And I think being part of LGB is allowing that ignorance to continue. I know from the stuff I learned in school, all trans people belong to the typical trans narrative. I learned that stuff in only the last couple years. It should have been more accurate considering the time period we're in (and then it may have not taken me so long to figure out).

So basically I propose the trans community comes together and makes a name for itself, brings awareness to the public not through LGBT organizations but through the combined efforts of trans and supporters of trans individuals. If we don't take action, nothing will happen. As we do this, the natural split will come between LGBT because trans is not a sexuality and shouldn't be grouped as such. Then again, I doubt a post from a throwaway account, someone to afraid to reveal their identity, will do much to inspire people to action.
