Pitchfork senior ed Jessica Hopper asks for sexism in Music stories on Twitter, holy shit there's so many

come on, man. i didn't say, or even suggest, that one gender receives more sexism than another gender. and nowhere did i even confuse whether or not an individual being dismissed BECAUSE OF THEIR GENDER is sexism or not.

i have no idea what you're even typing with this post, but it is clear you either don't agree with my point, or you simply don't get it. i was responding to someone who said that some of the twitter comments don't at all reflect misogyny or sexism, and i said that yes, i agree sometimes people are just jerks. other times, their jerkishness does seem related to social power struggles which leave the subjugated class/individual feeling shitted on because of their subjugated position (the position which exists solely in relation to the 'power' class.) FUCKING OBVIOUSLY WOMEN EXPERIENCE THIS. i didn't deny that, nor do i have difficult admitting that women experience it more than men. i didn't say that because it is so far beside my point that it doesn't even register for me. this is what i get paid to fucking study. OBVIOUSLY women experience sexism?

all i was saying is HEY, when women are in control, like in my experiences, it's a problem too. and my experience is by no means isolated. my comment really is that simple. you can trivialize it by saying "is that your whole point?" -- but when this is something i have experienced day in, day out, for the better part of a decade while working in a female dominated workplace, it is by no means a small "thing" to me -- nor does it seem to be a commonly realized sensitivity. i'm glad it's an easy to recognize point for you, though. but for most people, it seems totally okay and socially accepted to shit on a dude for his physical appearance, his goals, his choices, or position in the world
