https://labs.foxtype.com/politeness?text=I%27d%20just%20like%20to%20interject%20for%20a%20moment.%20What%20you%E2%80%99re%20referring%20to%20as%20Linux,%20is%20in%20fact,%20GNU%2FLinux,%20or%20as%20I%E2%80%99ve%20recently%20taken%20to%20calling%20it,%20GNU%20plus%20Linux.%20Linux%20is%20not%20an%20operating%20system%20unto%20itself,%20but%20rather%20another%20free%20component%20of%20a%20fully%20functioning%20GNU%20system%20made%20useful%20by%20the%20GNU%20corelibs,%20shell%20utilities%20and%20vital%20system%20components%20comprising%20a%20full%20OS%20as%20defined%20by%20POSIX.%20Many%20computer%20users%20run%20a%20modified%20version%20of%20the%20GNU%20system%20every%20day,%20without%20realizing%20it.%20Through%20a%20peculiar%20turn%20of%20events,%20the%20version%20of%20GNU%20which%20is%20widely%20used%20today%20is%20often%20called%20%E2%80%9CLinux%E2%80%9D,%20and%20many%20of%20its%20users%20are%20not%20aware%20that%20it%20is%20basically%20the%20GNU%20system,%20developed%20by%20the%20GNU%20Project.%20There%20really%20is%20a%20Linux,%20and%20these%20people%20are%20using%20it,%20but%20it%20is%20just%20a%20part%20of%20the%20system%20they%20use.%20Linux%20is%20the%20kernel:%20the%20program%20in%20the%20system%20that%20allocates%20the%20machine%E2%80%99s%20resources%20to%20the%20other%20programs%20that%20you%20run.%20The%20kernel%20is%20an%20essential%20part%20of%20an%20operating%20system,%20but%20useless%20by%20itself;%20it%20can%20only%20function%20in%20the%20context%20of%20a%20complete%20operating%20system.%20Linux%20is%20normally%20used%20in%20combination%20with%20the%20GNU%20operating%20system:%20the%20whole%20system%20is%20basically%20GNU%20with%20Linux%20added,%20or%20GNU%2FLinux.%20All%20the%20so-called%20%E2%80%9CLinux%E2%80%9D%20distributions%20are%20really%20distributions%20of%20GNU%2FLinux.
