Is it possible to force yourself to not have depression without therapy or medication? If so, how?

Hey, I mean no offense. You're right, I don't have control over the chemicals my brain produces. What your saying makes sense. However, I do think there is merit in mind over matter.

And, if I'm going to be selfish here for a minute and let myself get angry, what if I'm just fucking tired of constantly being told that I chose to be depressed? Well, guess what. Maybe I will prove you wrong. You won't know a damn thing, but I'll get the satisfaction of knowing I proved you, the resident Scrooge, wrong. Challenge accepted.

I asked an honest question, and I wouldn't have asked it for a reason. Next time you want to rain on someone's event, bring your own umbrella because they're not just gonna sit there while they're being told their question is 'cute'.
