Presto card rollout on TTC running millions over budget | Toronto Star

If your response to that is to say 'bullshit, they should just fire people who hurt themselves', then i'm sorry for whoever hurt you, but be aware those people end up either on WSIB or social security anyway.

My response would be paying someone that much to sit in a booth is ridiculous. If you are injured on the job you go on disability until you can do it again, like all other work place injuries.

Booth jobs should be specific jobs not one where high paid people go to wait out their contract.

If you cannot continue to do your job for personal reasons you can be transferred to the booth sitting job at the lower rate of pay.

As for your reductio ad absurdum argument:

So? I used it to demonstrate the flaw in your logic which is perfectly fine. Your logic dictates that paying people more, above the value they provide, has a benefit to the economy that justifies the over pay regardless of the fact that they don't provide the value to justify the cost.

If that was true then paying them even more would have even more of a positive benefit as per your logic.

We have staff that is reliable, dedicated and highly comitted to staying at work.

Is this a joke? Those booth sitters are terrible employees. I have never met a helpful one nor have many people I know who use the TTC regularly.

The government stimulates the economy through our tax dollars all the time, and one of the most common ways is through wages.

Ok then lets pay all government employees a million dollars a year. Again if we follow your logic this should boost the economy.

It's totally what the government does, and it's totally what taxes are for.

No taxes are to provide services to society in a responsible manner and NOT to pay people more than the value they can provide.

I don't pay taxes so someone can sit in a booth and make $100k that's insane.

I pay taxes for services and that job should be automated away 5 years ago and those savings redirected into other services we need.

Taxes ARE NOT for the welfare of workers that is an absurd stance and once you pay taxes I am sure you will understand.
