Prime Minister Bill English rejects Peter Dunne's way forward for weed

Yeah they should, that's why conscience votes exist.

Nope. Sorry but it's fucking deranged that you think someone should vote according to their beliefs when it will potentially impact others who don't share the same beliefs.

BTW, conscience votes aren't that. It is a vote in which the MP decides what they're representing, most likely what they feel their voters want.

On some issues parties do not agree on a single party view, and instead members of those parties cast their votes independently. This is often referred to as a “conscience vote”.

It doesn't, we live in New Zealand. Stop uncritically consuming American media.

Nice job completely ignoring what I asked you and jumping to an accusatory stance. I asked, rhetorically, why do you think separation of church and state exists? It's to make sure people don't enforce retarded beliefs through law. Clearly anyone with half a brain can see the value in that.

We live in a representative democracy. They elected Bill English because they support his personal views. They're not exactly a secret.

For starters, the Party elected Bill English at PM, not the voters. Secondly, well done forming your own argument by taking this out of context. I was explaining what a conscience vote was.

There are dozens of Christian churches and many of them support gay marriage...

Holy shit and most of them don't. It doesn't change the fact that the church, you know, the huge hierarchy which ends at the Pope, has been against gay marriage for decades if not longer.
