Pro-Life people of reddit, if abortion was stopped what would be the plan to ensure the welfare of the thousands of neglected and unwanted children?

I think you’re not giving a fair description to what carrying a child is like...carrying a child is much more than just providing food and shelter. It is incredibly invasive and burdensome and it fundamentally changes your body, your biological rhythms, your mental state, your nutritional needs...it is essentially like having a serious medical disorder for 9 months.

Basically what you’re saying to a woman by denying them that choice is “we are not always going to allow you to tend to this serious medical condition that you are suffering from in a way that is consistent with your own well-being.” That’s a right that everyone is presumed to have, even parents.

Now, I think it makes sense to deny women this right in the late stages of pregnancy. But, there should always be a STRONG presumption that human beings can seek medical care that serves their own best interest, full stop.
