I doubt you appreciate backhanded thank you, and as a woman, I can definitely this is backhanded thank you. He also mentions that women are “destined to go the whole way of creating new life”, and women are not destined to have childbearing be their only future. Don’t get me wrong, women who take care of domestic work are champions, taking care of a household and children is just as hard, maybe harder, than any kind of work. The issue is that women are not “destined” to this, they are not “destined” by anyone to do something, they are destined to follow their own wants, goals and desires in life. Thanking someone for being a second class citizen (which women, minorities, and LGBT people unarguably are in Russia) don’t erase or make up for the fact that they are being mistreated.
