I was 25 my first semester, definitely was out of place. I kept to myself and started making frends with students in my program eventually. Also joined several organizations and clubs, including the vets org on campus. Those vet dudes were awful and cringe but I made maybe 3 decent frends from the vets club that weren't hyping up their service or walking around with gruntstyle wear etc

Definitely takes time but I wasn't desperate for attention. Had a part time job almost every semester and completed an internship every summer. My last semester I was hired as security for two popular college bars, I should have applied there sooner! It was a phenomenal way to meet women and make acquaintances.
