Question on grading in class

I answered this question when you posted it just two days ago . . .

You deleted your post but here is my copied and pasted answer:

"y = cutoff for an A- in the class; x = minimum score you will need to get an A- in the class

y = (78)(.2)+(72)(.2)+(99)(.15)+(92.5)(.10)+(x)(.35)

x = (y - 54.1) / .35

If, for example, 90% is the cutoff for an A- in the class, you would need a 102.571428571% on the final to get an A- in the class. If you get 100% on the final, your grade in the class would be 89.1%. So if the cutoff for an A- in the class is 89.1% (well, more realistically, 89%) or lower, than you have a shot at an A-.

(EDIT: I wrote the above response before OP's question of whether they have a shot at an A- was deleted from the post)."
