Questions about getting my NJ license

You are good with ID. In fact, you don't need your social security card and you'll still have all 6 pts + proof of address.

I took the test last year. Have you gone through the route that you will be tested on? Technically you should be able to do it without prior knowledge of the roads you're driving on, but I did the exact test multiple times before my actual exam to see where stop signs are, school zones, merges, etc. Just keep in mind all the driving rules/speed limits and there should literally be no reason you don't pass that portion. Stop at all stop signs, don't make a right on red without stopping, make sure to yield in merges, always use your blinker and check your mirrors, don't go above the speed limit, etc.

The parallel parking portion was the one that sort of stressed me out a lot. I practiced with cones and sticks (like they do in the actual test), and my instructor was all about getting visual angles right to make sure it was done correctly. I was getting quite good in practice. However, on the day of the test, they had me park in a spot the was right off of a curve, so I had to back into it at an angle, which I had not practiced. That was so frustrating and confusing, but I did succeed after a bit of adjusting (although I think I was a little over 6 inches from the curb). Hopefully your examiner will have that leeway as well, or you will not have to deal with that curveball. Just do as you practiced and hopefully it'll be okay.

Best of luck! Have a friend softly bite the corner of your license when you get it, it'll prevent future accidents and tickets.
