Again: speedrun times are not reflective of the actual breadth or depth of gameplay. You can beat Myst - a game largely in the wheelhouse of something like Gone Home - in one minute and sixteen seconds. Do you really think Myst has one minute and sixteen seconds of gameplay?
Myst isn't really analogous either, since there is near instant travel between puzzles. And you actually have to do puzzles in the game. In Gone Home the gameplay consists of collecting journal entries and picking up like 3 keys or something. Have to open a couple doors.
This attempt[1] puts it at 2 hours and change. This one[2] is 3 hours. Those were just among the top 5 search results on youtube. Even accounting for Let's Play personality chatter, it clearly is well over an hour of gameplay.
Just randomly skipping around, I notice an awful lot of reading of things like newspapers or just standing around listening to the journals. I wouldn't characterize reading or standing still listening as gameplay. I don't 'play' a book, and I don't 'play'(as in gameplay) a CD. I characterize gameplay as things you actually do. I'm not gonna go watch a 2 hour video series about a game I care nothing about and time when they are actually doing things, but the time is going to be cut down significantly.
You said it was bland and uninspired, not that you were personally bored or uninterested in it. You made a statement that was clearly a critical assessment of its quality, not a personal distaste.
Literally the first thing I said about the story was "For something with a boring story(obviously just an opinion)". So, you're wrong when you say I didn't say I was personally bored or uninterested. And calling it bland and uninspired are personal opinions of what I thought of the story. Why I thought it was boring.
...But there was no actual discussion about either of these points. You made some vague, unspecified claims and acted shocked when people poked holes in the single point of discussion you provided to support them.
I certainly tried to have a discussion on them. Sorry that others just kept accusing me of hyperbole.
