Rant: Tired of Debating Men

The biggest differences socially for me in my 30's vs my 20's are:

  1. No problem whatsoever shutting down boundary-violating strangers, especially men
  2. No problem ignoring and extracting myself from arguments and debates before they even get started. There are so many things in the world that hurt me and alarm me, and so many people who are willing to play with me like a cat with a half-dead mouse via bullshitty debates. They aren't even hungry and they don't even care, it's just sadistic. I am more interested in women on the verge and in talking to them. (Along the same lines, I am more interested in people with similar experiences, people who are considering my religion, other politics, and other positions and in being a healing presence and open ear for them and giving them the information I have.)
  3. ...this isn't to disrespect the people doing the work of hardcore slam-dunking these fuckfaces. But for me, it's been very, very helpful to just hear them as white noise and not get caught up, not get my adrenaline up, and not get sucked in to feeling like this one interaction is the one on which all of womanhood and humanity hangs and if I can't fix this person then we're all doomed. Naw man, I have a gin and tonic to nurse and laundry to do. Drive on.
