Rate my portfolio

you have almost 19% long tech (about 20% of SPY is tech)

Which makes it seem like a perfectly reasonable allocation, it's what SPY does :)

i can only assume you believe you have some informational/strategic advantage there?

Yes. Tech is what I know.

kindof assume your startup is tech related too

Yes.

I dont know these companies very well- but there have been some pretty intense valuations

I'm short two tech stocks I think are overvalued. If you think any of my long positions are overvalued, I'd be interested to know why. The media saying tech stocks are overvalued is not cause for me to avoid the sector.

im sure most of your single stocks are highly correlated.

I'm sure they are. I have a bullish outlook on the sector so I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

in the event lending club portfolios tank, wouldnt their stock tank too?

Probably. I got those shares participating in their IPO. I doubt I will hold them long term. I was thinking of holding them through a few earnings reports and then selling.

The thing im most curious about is the Yuan. Why such a big proportion?

It's in a bank in China (I lived there). I like the idea of having a bunch of money outside of the United States. In case...who knows. That's to answer the allocation % question. It's a safety net/rainy day fund.

should i assume its bonds?

Term deposits (CD's). They pay 3.25% in China.

What you didn't address was why I like the investment:

3.25% is nice -- but an even bigger element is that I consider it essentially risk free. The currency is pegged to the dollar and artificially undervalued. If you look at the chart, they let it gain value vs the dollar slowly over time. It's true value is probably somewhere around 20-40% stronger than where it is today. So the 'risk' is them allowing it to float freely and me instantly making a bunch of money. So on top of my 3.25% I'm getting slow and steady forex gains. Somewhere in the ballpark of 6-7% total. Which is lower than I had anticipated but I'm content with that, given that, to me, it's essentially risk free. The SPY can go up and down, this investment will not. Does not (I've 4+ years into it).

how much cash is in the portfolio

I didn't include cash. It's another roughly 20%.
