"the letter, which was spearheaded by the writer Thomas Chatterton Williams"

Why erase him? Well, I know why:

This gross tactic of erasing people of color, women, LGBTs who hold divergent views is done to pretend the view you hate is only held by straight white men, because that scores points.

That's how/why black, brown & female Bernie supporters spent years being called "Bernie Bros"
