Real life serial killers that’d make great horror movies

Not a serial killer tale, but I knew some kids (well, early 20s) who killed and buried another kid that I knew because he had ridden my bus back in middle school and his brother/stepsister were in my grade. This was about 15 years ago now.

It was a pretty standard white trash killing - three guys lured the guy to their farm, bludgeoned him to death, put him in the back of their truck, buried him in a shallow grave, etc. It was allegedly over some smallish drug debt, but it was just ego-driven white trash BS IMO.

I hated the guy that got killed - he had robbed one of my roommates at gunpoint, etc and was generally a bad person - but I also knew one of the guys who did it (who pleaded by turning on the other two guys, still got 15 years or so) and you wouldn't think these three young guys that lived down the street would actually go through with some shit like that. The thin line in real life is definitely way scarier than horror movies IMO.

I've considered making a video (a la That Chapter on yt) or writing a script/treatment based on it, and I actually have time right now so maybe I can look into that. Could definitely interview one of the three killers (the one who plead out), and possibly could get access to the other two as well with some legwork assuming they are still alive - they would definitely still be incarcerated now.
