Tbh, it's barely comparable to Madoka in terms of content. Madoka is a thriller/action series that takes itself very seriously and huge emphasis on plot not really leaving much room for anything else, while Tutu is more a Brother's Grimm like drama/fantasy but always with a hope and bit of comedic/light hearted nature, and huge emphasis on characters with mostly episodic story telling (but pretty well over arching as well, imagine more the format of Trigun sorta). The only thing I honestly find similar between the two is that they're both just darker magical girl series and have some connections to Swan Lake (Well Tutu obviously, Madoka didn't show too much until the recent concept film and even possible that there was inspiration taken from Princess Tutu). You obviously have experience with Satou, and I'd say out of what he made Kaleido Star is closer to Tutu than Aria, but all are with his characters that show determination in the hardest of times and really always trying to look on the brighter side of things.

I just don't really like the comparison between Madoka vs. Tutu, they're both virtually in two extremely different genres and excel in them (IMO), but get compared as they seemingly took references from classic literature and are "darker" magical girl series (That somehow people forget about how dark Nanoha got at times...)
