Redditors who grew up with strict parents, what was the most absurd rule you had to live by?

Oooh this sounds like my ex sister in law.

I'll add, no makeup, bed by 7 on weekdays (9 on weekends), skirts and shorts must be knee length or longer (the live in Florida), no heels or heeled shoes, if any of your clothing is damaged or torn it comes out of your allowance.

She tried to send my eldest niece to therapy because she is a "difficult child." (She's 13) When the therapist expressed concern that all of my nieces issues stemmed from an overbearing mother and stress, she pulled her out of therapy.

They're only allowed to watch TV on the weekend for an hour a day and have to write an one page paper on what they watched.

We're pretty sure she is in a fundamentalist or in a cult.
