Redditors who have had "neighbors from hell", what happened?

We had a guy move in downstairs from us. The first night they were in we kept hearing shouting. I went to the basement at one point to change laundry and heard a girl say, "<NAME> stop hitting me, stop hitting me, stop hitting me!" and then a bunch of tumbling and crashing. I bolted upstairs and called the police. A few days later he was outside drinking and confronted my wife trying to excuse the noise, said something about how his ex-girlfriend was over and how she tried to start something with him, what we heard was all a misunderstanding, etc. He did the same shit to me later on.

He also tried to be our friend really hard, insisted on washing our cars as that was one of his professions aside from his paralegal business. He was always drinking or drunk off his ass whenever we'd see him. He had a pregnant wife that lived with him but we never really saw her.

We looked him up one day after he gave us his name and found out that he's a registered sex offender for a couple of reasons, underage sex and sexual assult or something like that IIRC. He also had a warrant in another state and got jail time in our state because they brought him in after he created an e-mail without telling the authorities about it (since he's supposed to due to being a registered sex offender). A neighbor said he showed up to meet him at a bar and the bartender recognized him and threw him out immediately. He would say he was friends with everyone in the building, but everyone couldn't stand him. The thing is he was incredibly pushy and woudl take advantage of people trying to be polite to weasel his way into trying to be your friend, but people would just avoid him.

Eventually he got evicted (right before we moved out, go figure) and one night came up to talk about his problems. The night before he was to move out he came up to our apartment drunk, offered me one of the beers that was in his back pocket which I declined, then started going off about how our landlord is a piece of shit and was only forcing him out because of his "criminal record" (he said this in a really condescending tone like it didn't matter at all) and how he could sue his ass for evicting him, but he wasn't going to because he was a good person. Went back downstairs and brought his cat up for some random fucking reason, which my wife and I were just about yelling at him because we had a cat who was now bushy tailed and ready to attack.
Came back up after dropping off his cat and said, "Man, your wife was not happy about that, was she?" Meanwhile my wife is sitting right there when he was saying this; he didn't even acknowledge her existence other than that moment. Eventually went on about how the government was going to kill half of the population or some shit. At that point I told him he needed to go because our baby was sleeping in the other room and we didn't want to wake him up. Thankfully he didn't bother us after that.
