Right now I'm in talks to sign a fairly lucrative contract to program a database for some really prestigious university neuroscience labs through a contact who DMed me from a random post where I asked in r/digitalnomad if the wifi was good in Greece and ended up realizing we'd gone to the same university and had friends in common.

We ended up realizing that we were both scheduled to be in Thailand a couple months later and met up for a beer and played some pool. We stayed in touch and a couple months down the line he need some programming help and reached out to me. Now more than a year later I've got a chance at doing the coolest work I've ever done because of that random post.
