I returned an item, then did not hear back/receive refund from seller for 2 weeks. Now Ebay is saying it has been too long since I initiated the return so I'm not entitled to a refund.

For the sake of clarity I didn’t add too much background into this, but I will now.

  • The rug was supposedly shipped in a certain size package. So I had my crew looking for that specific size. The seller ended up folding it when shipping so the rug wasn’t recognizable in our inventory.
  • I bought 10 rugs at the same time and they were all loaded into a moving truck immediately when they arrived. You can check my post history - we just moved cross country from WA to CT. So I’ve been....a little busy.
  • I didn’t notice the rug was missing (it was left behind in WA, didn’t make it on the moving truck, because I ordered so many rugs, and moving company miscounted and told me I had all 10.
  • Once I returned the rug, I forgot about it because (again, please check my post history) my WEDDING RING was stolen from my home.

So needless to say, I’ve been slightly preoccupied. In my mind, I shouldn’t have to check in with the seller to remind them to refund me. And I know the rug was received because it was signed for by the seller himself. And I know it was packaged correctly because it was never even opened from when it was originally shipped to me.

I’m asking for help because I don’t think the responsibility lies on me to remind the seller every day to refund me. I have been emailing them with no reply. They can’t ignore me until return window passes and then go “whoops, guess we get the rug AND the money!”
