• Rouka continues her story • Even the great evil (Kaiki) saves some people and even the greatest good (Araragi) hurts some people • Kaiki told her “the theory” of oddities existing • She met a high school girl who had gotten pregnant and was told by her mother to get an abortion, wished on a devil’s leg for help, and was taken over trying to kill her mother. Rouka called Kaiki, and the next morning woke up with the leg herself. Keeps the crutches because people talk more openly to someone who’s hurt. • Rouka has many more parts of the devil than just left arm and leg. She intends to collect it all and absorb it. • Rouka says they’ll probably never meet again, but she hopes Kanbaru has a happy, normal human life, because that’s what Rouka could never do. Tooe’s line about weakness? • Karen calls and reveals that Numachi Rouka killed herself three years ago. Higasa says there was a lot of complicated stuff at home too. I wonder if Rouka lied in her story, and the other Rouka she talked about was actually her. • Kanbaru’s run is a beautiful scene • She runs along the beach and water recedes before her, out through the open wasteland where the camera zooms out to dwarf her entirely • Lies down and thinks about Senjougahara. Clearly still not over her. • Hairaragi! • She initially doesn’t really recognize him, but as soon as he asks if everything is okay, she thinks that this is still Araragi. (btw, rotary where they stop when he asks that is the same place Black Hanekawa confronted tiger. P cool.) • “I’ve lost control. Nothing is really working out the way I planned. I’m really insecure right now… I think I’m just lonely now that you and Senjougahara have graduated.” • He says Senjougahara is lonely. Might be evidence for the breakup theory. • Kanbaru is having an identity crisis. Doesn’t know what’s typical of herself. • “I had my hands full trying to lead by example. Looking at it like that, maybe you were the one who defined who I was… In the end, we all adjust our personalities in a way that appeals to those we want to like us. I think it’s a bit dishonest though. While you’re embroiled in that deception, you lose and lose sight of so much.” Kanbaru says she feels like she’s lost a lot too. Her sense of abandonment now mirrors what Araragi felt at the end of Shinobu Time. • Kanbaru wants to do something about this situation, but also feels that doing nothing might be the best course of action. Rouka seems to be content gathering the devil. Her clients are happy for her “help.” • “If you think nobody’s bothered by it, you’re wrong. Because the very least, it bothers you… I’m not parroting Oshino here. The only one who can improve your situation is yourself.” • A lot of people have told her a lot of things recently. “Ignore them.
