I addressed this misconception elsewhere already today...

Springfield Armory is in Geneseo, IL. That's not Rock Island county. It's actually in Henry county. Their XD line is manufactured in Croatia. Strangely enough that's not in Rock Island county but is in an entirely different continent. It appears their 1911 line is manufactured in Brazil. Oddly Brazil is also not in North America.

Modern day Rock Island Armory is manufactured in the Philippines, which strangely enough is not only not Rock Island county but an entirely different continent.

The Rock Island Armory I believe you may be referring to was a federal armory at the Rock Island Arsenal. Small arms were previously manufactured there until maybe the mid-1900's. Currently, they manufacture howitzers which are not generally available to the public.
