Of course the US has their slimy hands in every nook and cranny of world affairs. International espionage and meddling have and always will be a thing. But when you get caught, you have to make concessions. Which is why you can't get too wild with it. Think assassinating rivals in foreign countries. Get caught enough times and you'll be sanctioned into an isolated shithole like North Korea.

However Russia is pissing in the pool and Trump and Congress are choosing to ignore it. The US is refusing to punish Russia, effectively submitting their sovereignty to them.
