[S5] Predictions Discussion - 5.09 'The Dance of Dragons'

As a book reader I feel unfortunately obligated to put my opinions in tags because most are at least based on book stuff.

[ADWD](#b We'll start up North. Based on the previews, it looks like Jon will be arriving back north of the Wall, but it's not time for FTW yet. I think it will be time that Sam leaves in order to either spread word of the WW to the folks down South or to go to the Citadel. Olly will probably do some more staring or will else not be featured in order to throw us off guard for episode 10.

Stannis will not have reached Winterfell yet, as there was not really any build up last episode for it so there will not be any tension built for any battle besides a skirmish. I'm not really sure what Ramsay is up to with his 20 men, but I imagine it will be left for episode 10 and may be part of the show version of the Pink Letter. I think Shireen and her potential sacrifice will be brought up again and Stannis will send Mel back to Castle Black for suggesting it, but Selyse may hear it and try that shit anyways.

At Winterfell, I think this will be the episode that Sansa escapes, with the help of Reek and Brienne. I think Sansa needs to be the primary planner for the escape in order for her to solidify her status as a player and not just a follower, and Reek will ultimately decide to help her. Perhaps the episode will end with both of the them and Brienne converging with Stannis's troops, with Ramsay falling upon them.

A bit further south and east, Arya will obviously be finishing her mission with the insurer, and will probably sight Meryn Trant and Mace Tyrell. I think they'll leave Meryn's death and possibly Arya's blindness for episode 10, but I could see them easily leaving the blindness out as well.

Not a clue what's going on in King's Landing in this episode because Cersei isn't doing her walk until episode 10. There may be some scenes with Kevan and Tommen, but just character building perhaps for Kevan in preparation for the potential epilogue inclusion in the finale (although it could play out different, or could definitely be saved for the S6 premiere, because who's gonna give a shit about Kevan and Pycelle after FTW).

In Dorne, I think the Sand Snakes are going to reveal their plan to kidnap Myrcella and name her queen and somehow convince Bronn to help them achieve this, as they've concocted some way to escape imprisonment. Based on the previews, there's some scene with Doran and Jaime, so I'm assuming Doran has some version of the "Fire and Blood" speech, probably revealing that Trystane is betrothed or somehow is being saved for Dany, and Doran has let the Sandsnake plotting go on to allow this, but feared it would get too dangerous with Jaime involved. IDK if he'll actually reveal this to Jaime though... because why the fuck would he do that? Also, maybe this is the episode Cersei writes to Jaime and Jaime burns the letter. I have trouble believing they'd leave this out because it is such powerful and unsubtle imagery that the show has unfortunately grasped on to.

In the East, we know there will be a Draznak's Pit scene, and somehow the SOTH will get all pissy again. I think they will be somehow provoked by Jorah's actions, not sure what. Maybe Dany will go down to the Pit in order to honor Jorah and the SOTH will appear to kill her for good. At that moment, Drogon will swoop Jorah. Jorah, seizing an opportunity to play the hero, will "To me!" Drogon alla Ser Barristan. He may also "oh" alla Quentyn but I think that's unlikely because the episode needs to end on an uplifting note as Dany mounts Drogon and rides off, after burning the Harpies to a crisp, of course.)
