The sad decline of the Battlefield franchise

People love to hate on battlefield, it's just fashionable to hate on the newer games now but I was playing battlefield 1942 back in the day and when the bad company games cane out I was in shock at home they'd ruined the formula of the game. They just seemed like a betrayal of what made the originals popular.

Battlefield One was a fantastic return to form. Massively multiplayer, base holding, vehicles.

It was hugely popular and everyone celebrated as it was a return to form and a ww1/2 game again instead of the tired "modern"/future setting of FPS games.

Then call of duty dedicded to jump back on the bandwagon and now everyone goes out of their way to shit on battlefield and how it's not like the originals. Except yes, this is how the originals were.
