I made a little app: Screen off no lock

WHY NEED SCREEN OFF?

• some like to spare their power button and look for alternate ways to turn off the screen
• sometimes pressing the power button is not convenient
• you can place an icon on your home screen to turn off your screen
• you can assign my app to one of the Nova Launcher gestures, e.g. to turn off the screen using an up-swipe
• you can call my app from Tasker if any task needs to turn the screen off

THE PROBLEM

Starting with Lollipop, regular screen-off apps (the ones which need Device Admin) will lock the phone even if you configured Smart Lock to keep it unlocked.

Starting with the latest Marshmallow security updates, if you use regular screen off + lock apps, they will lock the phone in a way, that it can only be unlocked using pin/pattern/password BUT NOT using your fingerprint or iris! This makes regular screen locking apps useless. We get messages like:

• "Enter pin instead of using fingerprint recognition because of security policy".

MY SOLUTION

My new little app, Screen off no lock turns off the screen as if you pressed the power button, or waited for the screen timeout.
