[Serious] Did you ever attend a wedding that was a complete disaster? What happened?

Oh boy.

I had a small circle of about five close friends (four now, with the missing "fifth" being the guy featured in this story). The first four of us to get married had nice affairs, with two of them being ridiculously extravagant.

Anyway, the fifth finally gets hitched. He sets it on the Tuesday after Memorial Day. The fuck? Why would you do that? It's one of the most inconvenient date possible. Additionally, he sets it in Tahoe, a place that is convenient for NOBODY in the wedding. Finally, he sets it for Tuesday in the morning, basically necessitating that everyone has to travel ON Memorial day.

This scheduling caused a big shitshow with everyone's wives, but whatever, we finally get there.

The wedding takes place on a patch of grass adjacent to the parking lot of the motel where he had advised everyone to stay. Just ... absurd. There was some shitty cardboard flower arch thing that was leaned against a brick wall of the parking lot. Just laughable. The noise of the cars was a constant distraction. There were no chairs so everyone stood for the whole ceremony. Several family members were really old and people had to go and find them chairs from the rooms so they could sit down. They didn't hire a photographer so they encouraged everyone to take photographs and share.

So okay, that's done. Now for the reception. Except, it's not really a reception. There's a buffet set up at a nearby restaurant. Open bar lasts, I shit you not, for thirty minutes. Afterwards, they invite everyone to go to the actual "reception" which is a cruise on Lake Tahoe. It isn't a rented boat, it's just some regular boat with non-wedding guests on it. Oh, and they want us to pay for it. Little envelopes are distributed asking for something like 75 bucks to pay for the reception cruise and for "drinks for everyone."

By this point, everyone is pretty furious. I actually stage a revolt, and myself and a few friends just go eat at a nearby, great, restaurant instead and enjoyed Tahoe.

Much fallout.
