Not exactly a murder, but sorta kinda pretty much is in a way.

There was this guy who was a friend of a friend that I didn't really speak to much, but our junior year of high school we became chummy through our school's gaming club and hanging out over the summer. Come senior year we have lunch together so he's a member of the crew by default. At some point I was looking for a prom date and he jokingly gives me his friend's phone number. He wasn't expecting me to actually call it, but I did and ended up becoming pretty chummy with the girl on the other end.

Sometime in the winter of that year, she told me some guy was bullying her and saying some stuff that made her start self harming again. A few days later, she said our friend dealt with him, but that he maybe did too much. The guy had killed himself.

Apparently the guy had harassed a friend of the girl's back in our freshman year and said friend also committed suicide. The whole thing was weird. She didn't know how to feel about our friend killing the guy because the guy was a big problem in their life so I kinda understood it. I remember a few days after it happened, all the girl told me was that friend maybe went too far and later that day friend told us in our group chat that "the piece of shit killed himself".

From getting to know the girl, the guy actually had caused her severe depression and really bad insomnia/epilepsy from making her best friend suicide and harassing her over the years. So, yes he really was a piece of shit, but he clearly had his own issues and I think our friend's treatment of his suicide was pretty harsh. Hell, causing his suicide was pretty harsh.

We kinda just swept the whole thing under the rug and he went off to college and became a bit of a shut in. He ended up transferring to a community college in our city so some of our friend group are still in contact with him. I cut the girl off after the whole incident.

Tldr: wanted a prom date, got caught up with a murderer
