[Serious] If you were offered the opportunity to take on a mortgage of a place that you currently rent, because the rent cost will increase anyway...but you don't like living there and want to move, what would be the best option to take?

Thank you both for your replies. I apologize for not checking out the other thread - I'm quite new to Reddit.

So, I guess taking on the mortgage could be a mistake. I don't have a lot of money at the moment and I can't afford a deposit on a different rented house. However, I've been told that the rent will increase to the same cost as it would if I just take on the mortgage of this place. I don't like living here and would like to move...I'm just not sure what to do, I'm feeling pressured. I have no ties to this area at all, I loathe living here in most aspects!

My partner on the other hand is dismissive of everything I say, he's not bothered, he says he's happy wherever we live etc - he instantly dismisses every single one of my concerns or when I say I'm unhappy living here because I feel isolated - he just shuts me down and tells me to stop being so negative. I'm even wondering if it's normal -- he just shuts me down whenever I say anything even slightly negative, such as "I feel isolated here" or "I miss my friends".

He doesn't want to hear anything from me unless it's something to do with how happy I am about his latest motorbike or video game, or hearing all about his friends. I like hearing about all that stuff, and I'd never object to it -- I'm glad he's got hobbies and friends. It's just that whenever I say anything he shuts me down and doesn't want to hear it. Anyway I realise I've rambled on and I'm sorry.
