[Serious] People that have met a murderer before they became infamous, what was your impression of them?

I lived in the same apartment complex as (Kevin Underwood)[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Ray_Underwood] in Purcell, Oklahoma.

The Wikipedia link says pretty much everything about the murder. He killed a little girl that lived in the building named Jamie Bolin, she was only 10. He's infamous for telling the FBI "Go ahead and arrest me. She is in there. I chopped her up." They were going door to door interviewing everyone in the complex about her disappearance.

I didn't know her or her family very well but not long before her death I bought chocolate she was selling for school, I helped search for her right up until the end. I heard her grandpa scream when they told him they found her body, the sound still haunts me. It's heartbreaking, we believed we would find her because things like that don't happen in Purcell, Oklahoma... But she was stuffed in Kevin Underwood's closet. He murdered, sexually assaulted and then tried to eat her body. He talked about doing it online for years, no one around him knew about his disturbing fantasy.

He was a really weird person and was incredibly shy, the guy would practicality run away if you so much as waived at him. A few months before Jamie's death someone's dog went missing and few people saw him feeding the dog and then the next day we found the dog strangled with a wire hanger, many were suspicious of him and police came out but nothing came from it, I'm not even sure if he was charged. I don't know much about the dog thing, just rumors. He may not even be responsible but if someone is capable of murdering a child they are certainly capable of killing a dog.

After Jamie's murder the owners of the apartment complex allowed tenants to break the lease, which almost everyone did. We moved to Oklahoma City and I'm not even sure if the apartment complex is still open, I wouldn't be surprised if they closed it. I still have one of her missing posters, newspaper clippings and her funeral program. It's been almost a decade since Jamie Rose Bolin's death and Kevin Underwood is still sitting on death row.
