[Serious] What was the hardest apology you've ever had to make?

When I was in the second or third grade I went to a extremely religious Christian school for summer camp. To clarify I am atheistic, they just had some good robotics stuff and the camp itself wasn't religious so I didn't mind.

Anyway, at the time I was really into Pokémon cards and would take any I could get my hands on. One day I was shuffling my deck before a game and somehow a few of the other persons cards got in my deck. He asked if they were his and me, being the little idiot I was, said no. This ended up progressing from me stealing a few more cards, to full on lying to people so I could steal entire tins of cards.

Still, as all things do, my great adventure had to come to an end eventually. I had lied and said that I got one of the stolen cards out of a pack without realizing it was a promo card, which is marked differently. One of the counselors called me out for it and I knew I was done. But of course I refused to give up and decided to blame a friend that wasn't even at the camp for it. I lied and said that he had visited with his mom, and must've slipped the stolen cards in with mine at some point. My parents tried to make me call his parents to talk about it, and that's when I cracked. I admitted to everything and promised to apologize to everyone I had stolen from.

The hardest apology to make by far was to the kindergartener who's cards I stole. It was actually one of his cards that got me caught. I remember explaining to him what I had done and just the disappointment on his face. I went home that day with tears streaming down my face because of it.

It all worked out alright in the end, as everyone more or less forgot about it and I never went back to the camp again. Sorry for grammar mistakes, wrote it on my phone.
