A few years ago over the span of about a year, I’d step out of my room onto the landing at night and see a bright flash of white light. Not every time, but maybe about half of the time that I left my room in the middle of the night.

After seeing this flash I’d sometimes just stand there and wait for another to see if I could figure out what it was, but there was nothing other than the smoke detector which flashes i) red and ii) barely bright enough to notice. I stood there for ages and nothing.

In the end I just concluded that I was seeing things because even if there was something flashing, the chance that I would consistently leave my room at the perfect time to see it - day in, day out - was so small. Haven’t seen a flash for over a year now, and still no idea what it was that I was seeing.
