Many conservatives believe that marriage shouldn't be defined by the State and that it is a religious issue, which is protected by the 1st Amendment (and the 14th). I'd imagine Shep is one of them.

It's absurd to suggest that someone is a Democrat because they're gay. Especially someone who has been one of the most trusted and prolific conservative voices of Fox News for years.
