[Shitpost] Oliciters calling out Katie Cassidy's charity work.

I have to admit that I find the worship of Felicity Smoak among many young (and not-so-young) women really puzzling, especially when it comes to women of color or non-Anglo women. I can understand how a white male/female fictional character can become much beloved by people of color, because I have admired/loved many Black fictional characters, although I'm a white European. What I do NOT understand is how Social Justice Warriors of color like the Stiletto Lady can worship the lilywhite Felicity Smoak/EBR and her trite Harlequin romance with the the equally lilywhite Oliver Queen/SA, while at the same time claiming that Laurel/KC is a basic, "whitebread", "cis-het" etc. female character, who deserved to die/be written off the show.

I mean, to me Felicity Smoak is not in any way different from (or better than) Laurel when it comes to her SJW credentials. In fact, I'd say that Felicity is the epitome of a Barbie-look-a-like, heterosexual, stereotypical white fan insert character, whose ascension to CEO/super hacker presents a highly distorted and unrealistic picture of how REAL life disadvantaged women struggle to get ahead in a male-dominated society. In fact, the oliciter idea that Felicity Smoak is some kind of feminist icon is IMHO ludicrous, because within the context of the show she hasn't done jack shit to prove that she deserves her elevated professional position as CEO of Palmer Tech OR the constant character shilling she gets from Diggle or any other character. Reading the oliciter suggestions for season five storylines (which almost solely regard Felicity) I cannot say that they in any way promote the idea of Felicity as an independent, strong and heroic woman, rather the opposite. What these fans want to see enacted on screen is some kind of white picket fences/ domestic fantasy where Oliver Queen is married to Felicity Smoak and having loads of lovely, white-bread Olicity babies, a vision that is quite far from the initial portrayal of OQ as a damaged, ambiguous and determined vigilante hero.

In my eyes there are HUNDREDS of fictional characters who are much more deserving when it comes to providing role models for young women than your typical CW heroine Felicity Smoak. To me, Felicity is just another superhero love interest, whose character portrayal is incredibly shallow in comparison to many other fictional heroines out there, including Laurel Lance, who at least was portrayed by a competent actress.
