[Huge Shokugeki Spoilers](/s "Basically, a guy named Asahi shows up from a world of dark chefs known as the noirs. These noirs are chefs who would be hired specifically to cook for people like the mafia or otherwise since cooking for such people requires a certain finesse. Mess up and they might have you killed, talk about things you hear and you will definitely die. Asahi is like a god of the underworld of chefs, super OP. He even beats Joichiro in a shokugeki. As it turns out, Asahi is someone Joichiro apprenticed basically when Asahi was a kid and Joichiro was still traveling the world before he needed to take care of Soma. Soma battles Asahi without knowing who he is - he disguises himself as a teacher - and loses. Asahi declares a proposal to marry Erina given that he wins Blue. I forget why already, but Erina is forced to accept this situation. It's a dumb reason though. When he proposes it, it's after he kidnaps her to talk to her. So Blue happens and Megumi, Takumi, Soma, Erina, and Asahi are there. Blue is basically one big 'light chefs' vs 'dark chefs' battle. The chairman wants to push the future of culinary food, so they want to pit the two styles like this. This is where it gets really bad. Dark chefs basically have superpowers. One of them cuts meat with a chainsaw, another puts umami into meat using special claws, another injects stuff using syringes. And of course, the dumbest one of all is Asahi. He has cROsS kniVEs. If he has observed someone cook using a knife, then taken that knife from them in a Shokugeki, he can perfectly replicate their cooking. So he combined the cooking styles of hundreds he has stolen from to make 'perfect dishes'. Erina basically becomes damsel in distress 2.0 because it turns out the entire point of blue is to save the chairman, who is actually Erina's mom! Dun Dun Dun. It turns out those who have the god tongue eventually grow to hate eating because all food feels unsatisfactory. They get 'lost in the storm'. Erina's mom survives off IV bag glucose and shit. So Erina is there at Blue and essentially the whole time is like 'stop trying wahh, Asahi is the only one capable of making a dish who can save my mom'. All this time, most of the cooking through Blue is absurd as I said with shit like chainsaws and 90% of the time we don't see the cooking and food is hardly described at all. Some shokugekis happen entirely in a single chapter with barely any detail. Even Asahi vs Tsukasa, who obviously got invited, happens in a single chapter. And of course Asahi made sure to collect Tsukasa's knife. The whole thing is a fucking mess. Soma 'surpassing his dad' is achieved second hand by beating Asahi, Erina needs to be saved from herself AGAIN, the chairman is erina's god damn mom and is just holding the event to taste a dish never before made in the world, and there is super powers.
