Shoppers to pay deposit for bottles and cans in bid to cut waste. People in England will soon have to pay a deposit when they buy drinks bottles and cans in a bid to boost recycling and cut waste.

Unlike the other guy, I am not so pessimistic. We have no incentive for recycling right now apart from "Do it to feel good". Putting money into the mix will definitely have an impact. God man, people walk around picking up pennies and half cigarettes off the floor, we're stingy fucks and it will pay off.

When I first moved to Norway which has this same system, I immediately stopped recycling bottles, and started bringing them to the store. Why? Because money. I now hoard bottles and beer cans and then when I have a huge black bag full just dump them in the car and drive to Sweden to return them. Use the money you get to pay for some shopping. Too lazy to return a bottle? leave it out for someone else to take. Up town and too lazy to return a bottle? Leave it by a bin for a homeless person to take.
