Should I take his advice?

I’ve debatably had too many jobs for an adult my age but that’s always been my line. There is a certain point of time off that I’m not asking for permission to not be here to see a Doctor or visit family across the country. I’m doing them them the courtesy of telling them to make alternate plans.

I’ve quit, I think, two jobs on the day they denied a pto request after some back and forth on the topic. Both of those places could never seem to keep staff and always seemed to be at a loss as to why. There is one specifically who thought it was some kind of bluff and warned me to “not buy those plane tickets” and I responded something to the effect of “you should really post this position due to my vacancy tomorrow.” Finished my shift before the trip and never came back. Started a new position the next week. The brief phone conversation the next day about “oh, no, I told you that if you denied my request then the conversation we were having should be considered my two week notice. I’m not sure how you didn’t register that. Anyway, best of luck in life and I hope you can find my replacement soon.”
