We should probably stop scaring all the new graduates out of accounting

You're missing MY point - my point is working the least amount of hours possible to have a good income. That certainly is not the case in accounting ~ I believe there are STEM professions out there that are better in income per hours worked ratio. You obviously disagree and that's okay. 60 hours a week is standard at Big4 for 3-4 months minimum - I am in tax my winter busy season and my hours from february to april have tapered from 50-70 hrs a week. My fall busy season is lighter with 50-60 hrs worked from August to September. Now add 1-2 fiscal year clients in maybe May/June and you can see how realistic the numbers are. I am also a CPA in the asset wealth management line of service. Main idea is accountants work a fuckton of unpaid OT compared to our hourly healthcare counterparts in addition to shitty work life balance.

Doesn't matter if you don't work 60 hour weeks for 4 months of the year. You're still at a disadvantage against those heatlhcare workers who work 40 hrs and get paid by the hour. Also cut the bullshit with healthcare workers relocating - aint nobody relocating to the suburbs forcefully. The healthcare profession is so understaffed right now due to covid lmfao. 6 Year Pharms are making 120K at age 23/24 out of school mate not at age 26/27. PAs/NPs can make that much at age 23-25. You're right about the debt ~~ accounting generally has lower debt - I'll give you that, but its not DDS/MD debt. The guy at age 29 family medicine still pulls 270K in NYC starting working 9-6 outpatient clinic hours. Imagine talking down to family medicine lololol they have some of the best WLB. Not every specialty is an emergency trauma surgeon working nights and weekends.

I think you're really out of touch with the medical profession. There's no such thing as unemployed physicians or nurses or PAs by nature due to saturation. Those that move to the suburbs are doing it by CHOICE they pay a big ass premium to healthcare providers that serve understaffed populations in the middle of Nebraska.
