Should I risk getting a boring job for failing Pararescue or go Army

I see potential SOF candidates always mulling over numbers they think they saw on some forum somewhere.

I'm going to hit you with a quick dose of reality.

First of all, that shit is stupid as fuck. The reality of the situation is that the selection rate in every class is different, and since there is no longer individual PJ indoc like there used to be, Combat Controllers, Pararescue, and Special Reconnaissance all go to the exact same selection, selection rates could vary wildly for any number of reasons, including attrition during the actual pipelone.

Here's another reality, the vast majority of people who fail, fail because THEY DID NOT ADEQUATELY PREPARE. Which caused them to quit, or fail.. with others it's usually injury.

Your success or failure generally speaks to your level of dedication to seeing it through and preparation, odds are if you're busy worried about failing A&S, you wouldn't succeed in RASP either. It is not a numbers issue, it is a you issue.

The Air Force gives you basic training, an entire 8 week preparation course for all AFSPECWAR candidates where they literally have tempurpedics, ice baths and professional training coaches to prepare for A&S, if at that point you still fail, that's almost 100% on you.

So ask yourself, if the number was actually 80%, why would you do anything but everything you can to be in the other 20%? Do not self select, that is what cadre are there for.

Basically, actually train with your goal in mind, and you'll be just fine.
